have a lovely weekend!

It's been a pretty rough week, but at least it went by quickly. I wouldn't mind spending a weekend in one of these tree tents I found on cabin porn {which by the way is an amazing tumbler name}. Instead I'll probably spend my weekend watching football and baking, which isn't too bad either. I hope yours is just as lovely!

bowerbags

My friend Jaime is launching Bowerbags, an awesome handmade backpack that transforms into a messenger bag or a saddle bag. Each bag is adorned with custom designs from local Savannah artists, like Matt Hebermehl, and will fit any lifestyle. He's asking for donations to start his business on kickstarter.com and the last day is Friday Sept. 9. Check it out and show your support!

design*sponge at home

It's finally here. The Design*Sponge At Home book is now available, and I'm so excited and happy for Grace. I can't wait to get my copy!

sunday sweets {cinnamon-pear muffins}

I literally have bags and bags of baking pears in my house right now. Someone at work has a pear tree and has been kind enough to share them with me. I thought about making a pear tart or a crumble, but I've made a lot of pies and tarts lately, so here's something different.

Jacob and I have spent the weekend trying to recover from the damage last week's beer festival celebrations caused. Sunday morning I was on my second cup of large coffee when I decided muffins would really hit the spot. However, in my lazy state, the thought of baking anything was just too overwhelming. I then remembered a book my mother gave me for Christmas, Radically Simple, and sure enough there was a recipe for pear muffins that was said to take 30 minutes. Perfect.

This recipe is so easy, it's kind of embarrassing, but I promise it's really good.

Ingredients:
1 1/2 self rising flour
3/4 sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 large egg
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup olive oil
1 1/4 cup peeled and diced pears {or if you prefer, apples, blueberries etc.}
turbinado sugar

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Combine flour, sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl, set aside. Whisk together egg, buttermilk, and oil. Add wet mixture to dry ingredients and mix together until completely combined. Add diced pears. Pour mixture into paper-lined muffin tin, sprinkle turbinado sugar on top. Bake for 25 minutes or until browned.

Enjoy!

monday eye candy {twenty-seven names}

Aren't these photos for Twenty-Seven Names' winter 2011 collection dreamy?

puffin birthday books

Happy Monday! I wanted to start off the week by sharing a special gift I got for my birthday last week. Aside from a surprising and exciting gift from Jacob {we're going to Harry Potter World and Universal, don't judge me}, I was also given these beautiful books. I've been eying them for a while, after discovering them in Anthropologie last fall. Usually we order our lovely books from amazon, but these could not be found anywhere online so Jacob's mother picked them up for my birthday. Aren't they dreamy? The Wind in the Willows is probably my favorite, but Robin Hood and Peter Pan are tied for a close second.

happy birthday to zamir!

So it's my birthday {and if you don't get the reference, here it is for your viewing pleasure, about 6 minutes in}:

Anyway, I have some nice things planned for today, lunch with friends, dinner with Jacob. It should be good. Also, I'm going to be judging for the Savannah Craft Brew Fest today. Yes, you heard right, clearly I'm kind of a big deal. I feel like listening to Jacob talk about beer night and day qualifies me for this kind of gig, and if not, at least I'll get free beer. I may need an immediate dust off.

P.S. someone make me this cake.
